The park is located in eastern Rwanda. It was established in 1934 named after the Akagera River, which flows along its eastern boundary.

Giraffes, with their elegant necks arched high, delicately pluck leaves from towering acacia trees. DAY 2: GAMEDRIVE & BOAT CRUISE
After your sumptuous breakfast, check out from your hotel for a full-day game drive.
Continue to explore Akagera wide savannas looking for different mammals and birds. Akagera National Park is home to over 500 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
Keep your eyes peeled for colorful birds such as the shoebill stork, African jacana, and lilac-breasted roller as you explore the park’s diverse habitats.
In the afternoon, continue your thrilling expedition on Lake Ihema. A boat safari offers a fresh perspective, allowing you to witness the park’s wildlife from a different vantage point.
Glide along the calm waters, marveling at the sight of hippos gracefully submerging and emerging, their presence a reminder of the delicate balance between land and water.
