2 DAYS NYUNGWE FOREST ODYSSY

DAY 1 TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK ROUTE VISIT MUSEUMS

After early breakfast, embark on your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

It is located in south-west Rwanda and is the largest expanse of montane forest in East or Central Africa.

With altitudes ranging from l600 meters to 2,95O meters, the park covers 970 sq km and is one of the richest areas in Africa in terms of endemic species.

best known for its amazing flora with over 250 species of tree and for its 13  varieties of primates.

Nyungwe is also considered the best birding destination in Rwanda with over 320 bird species, of which at least 29 are unique to the montane forest environment of the Albertine Rift.

On your way visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province, this will give you a great history of traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of leadership of Kingship with an en route lunch. 

You will reach in the afternoon at Nyungwe National Park. Check-in at the hotel and head out for a canopy walk. This 70 meters-suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a lucky day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING

The day begins with an exhilarating chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe’s lush rainforest.

Early breakfast at 5:30 am then drive to the edge of the forest where chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe starts.

One of the oldest rainforests in Africa, Nyungwe National Park is a pristine rainforest in southwestern Rwanda and is home to a thriving population of chimpanzees, one of the most famous great apes of Africa.

These highly intelligent and social primates are our closest relatives, sharing 98-99% of our DNA. The park offers guided chimpanzee tracking experiences, allowing you to observe their complex behaviors, from grooming to hunting and playful interactions.

Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, you venture deep into the dense vegetation, listening for the sounds of chimps and watching for signs of their presence. As you hike through the forest, the anticipation builds, and suddenly, you catch a glimpse of a family of chimpanzees swinging through the trees or socializing on the forest floor.

Witnessing these incredible primates in their natural habitat is a truly awe-inspiring experience that leaves you with a profound appreciation for their intelligence and conservation. After the trek, you will transfer to the hotel and have your Lunch.

Later refreshments and check out from the hotel. Drive through the scenic landscapes of Rwanda to Kigali. Later drop off at your hotel.
