DAY 1: GAME DRIVE AND LAKE IHEMA BOAT CRUISE
Today starts with an exciting Game Drive in Akagera National Park, this park is Rwanda’s largest national park and covers an area of approximately 1,122 square kilometers (433 square miles). The park is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. It’s also home to predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas. Akagera National Park offers opportunities for safaris, game drives, and boat trips along the Akagera River. It’s a beautiful destination for wildlife enthusiasts and those looking to experience the natural beauty of Rwanda.
In the afternoon, you will drive to Lake Ihema for the thrilling boat ride to see schools of hippos, giant Nile crocodiles, different water birds, etc. Overnight Ruzizi Tented Lodge.
DAY 2: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER BACK KIGALI
Start a full-day game drive in the park in search of varieties animals, herds of elephant and buffalo and Akagera is officially home to leopard, spotted hyena and acacia lion. The park contains giraffe and zebras and more than a dozen of antelopes, including largest world’s largest antelope the cape eland as well as impala, bush buck, oribi and topi. Akagera also claims to over 480 bird’s species including two endangered the papyrus gonolek and the much-photographed shoe bill stork and the endangered grauer warbler and grey crowned crane were also recently relocated to Akagera. After you will drive out of the park and proceed to Kigali.
