 KIGALI CITY EXPLORATION (PRE-COLONIAL, COLONIAL AND POST-COLONIAL ERA AS WELL AS GENOCIDE TIMES)

After breakfast you will start Kigali city exploration, get to learn more about Rwanda from the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial era as well as Genocide times. Start with Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial where over 250,000 Genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves. After you will proceed to visit Richard Kandt Museum. Richard Kandt was the first colonial governor of Rwanda, on behalf of Germany, until the early 1900s. At present, the Kandt House Museum in Kigali comprises three main parts; the first part presents Rwandan life in all its aspects – social, economic, and political – before the colonial period. Proceed to visit the Belgian museum. This museum showcases the pre-colonial history of Rwanda and the influence of Belgian colonization. Explore the exhibits that highlight the culture, traditions, and artifacts of the region’s indigenous people. The second part traces the experience of the Rwandan people during the colonial period.

Proceed to the Campaign against genocide Gishushu known as CND and learn how RDF-Inkotanyi rescued the Thousands life and stop genocide against the Tutsi.

After visiting Campaign against genocide museum, proceed to historical mu known as Richard Kandt to learn more about Rwanda from the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial era as well as Genocide times. Learn about the international response (or lack thereof) during the genocide and the ongoing efforts to address the legacy of colonialism. After exploring Kigali museums, you will go to Amarange Nyamirambo the vibrant and colorful neighborhood in Kigali, known for its lively street markets, local artisan shops, and rich cultural heritage.

Explore the bustling markets, interact with the friendly vendors, and immerse yourself in the local way of life. After the visits, you will have lunch in one of the nearby restaurants.
