DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KIGALI & TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL

Arrival at the Airport later is transferred to the hotel by our company’s representative. On arrival at the hotel, you will refresh and get ready for dinner. Overnight at Ma Boutique Hotel.

DAY 2 KIGALI CITY EXPLORATION- KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL

 

Breakfast at the hotel later start the Kigali city exploration, get to learn more about Rwanda from the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial era as well as Genocide times. Start with Belgian camp which is near the hotel, where 10 UN peace keepers were killed before Genocide trying to protect the moderate Prime minister, later Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial where over 250,000 Genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves. DAY 2: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK ENROUTE VISIT MUSEUMS & TEA TOUR PLANTATION

Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to Nyungwe National Park en-route do a historical minded exploration of Nyanza and Butare. Visit the King’s palace, reconstruction of the traditional royal residence, the King’s Palace is a beautifully-crafted thatched dwelling shaped like a beehive.
In olden times, Nyanza was the heart of Rwanda according to oral tradition, it was the site of battles and power struggles.
For a long time, the monarchy was mobile, moving the court between various locations. When it eventually settled in one place, Nyanza was the obvious choice. The capital of the kingdom had as many as 2,000 inhabitants, and huts built with the same methods as seen here. At the back live a few long-horned Inyambo cattle, descended from the king’s herd, whose keepers carefully tend and sing to them, keeping alive a unique tradition. The elegant cows, derived from the wider Ankole breed, played an important role during ceremonies in honor of the king. They were decorated with rich jewellery, and were taught to listen to a trainer’s songs and follow his movements in a stately parade. Rwanda ceased to be a monarchy in 1962, when it gained independence from colonial rule. However, the breeding and grooming of Inyambo is still carried out under the Rwanda Agriculture Board.
You will have lunch enroute, then after you will visit Ethnographic Museum which gives introduction to Rwanda’s kingdoms. It is a gift from Belgium’s King Badouin in the late 1980s, the Ethnographic Museum now houses one of Africa’s finest ethnographic collections, seven galleries display historical, ethnographic, artistic and archaeological artefacts accompanied by visual aids, giving visitors a rich insight into the Rwandan culture.
After visiting these wonderful museums, you proceed transfer to visit Gisakura Tea plantation, the tour begins with an introduction to the history of Gisakura Tea Estate and the process of tea cultivation. Scenic views – Throughout the tour, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Gisakura Tea Estate is often situated in a picturesque location with rolling hills and scenic beauty. Embark on a guided walk through the lush green tea plantations and follow the journey of the tea leaves from the plantation to the processing factory. Learn about withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, and sorting—the essential steps in transforming freshly plucked leaves into the tea we enjoy.
 After you will proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Overnight at Nyungwe Top view Hotel.

DAY 4: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING-CANOPY WALK WAY EXPERIENCE

Early breakfast (you can take packed breakfast) at 5AM then drive to the edge of the forest where chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe starts you will go with experienced trekking guides and trackers who will give you exciting information about the humans’ closest relative in DNA composition, you will spend up to an hour following and watching the chimpanzees once you spot them.
After having lunch, you will visit Canopy Walkway which is one of the longest and highest canopy walkways in East Africa. It extends for approximately 160 meters and stands at a height of about 70 meters above the forest floor.
Nyungwe Forest is known for its rich biodiversity, and the canopy walkway offers an excellent vantage point for observing various bird species, primates, and other wildlife that inhabit the forest. Overnight at Nyungwe Top view Hotel.

 

DAY 5: WATER FALL HIKE AND TRANSFER TO KIBUYE LAKE KIVU

After breakfast then transfer to visit water fall This waterfall, which originates in the Kamiranzovu marshlands of Nyungwe Forest National Area, has quickly become a must-see for all visitors to the park. Kamiranzovu waterfall has received a lot of attention from recent visitors. The waterfall is separated into two sections. the lower on gigantic rocks and a magnificent site for photography.
After lunch you will drive to karongi formerly kibuye, on our landlocked country, Karongi is perhaps the most popular beach retreat for families living elsewhere in Rwanda. It’s easy to see why, with its majestic vistas, tranquil atmosphere and easy access from Kigali. Hillsides covered in pines and eucalyptus serve as a backdrop to the sparkling lake. At dawn and dusk, the sound of local fisherman singing carries across the water as they paddle in unison.
On arrival you will enjoy lake kivu boat tour and breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Kivu and the surrounding hills. The calm waters and lush landscapes create a serene and picturesque setting, the first stop is often Napoleon Island, this small island is home to a colony of fruit bats, and visitors can observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. The island is named after the famous French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte. Next on the itinerary is Peace Island, known for its tranquility and beautiful scenery. You will explore the island, stroll along its shores, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The island may have picnic spots or areas for relaxation. Then you will end by visiting monkey islands. After you will transfer to the hotel overnight at Cormoran Lodge

DAY 6: TRANSFER TO GISENYI VIA THE CONGO NILE TRAIL AND HOTSPRING

After breakfast Start your day by leaving Kibuye in the morning. The drive along the Congo Nile Trail offers breathtaking views of Lake Kivu and the surrounding hill, enjoy a scenic drive along the Congo Nile Trail, a picturesque route that follows the shores of Lake Kivu. The trail takes you through charming villages, lush landscapes, and offers stunning vistas of the lake, arrive in Gisenyi in the afternoon. Gisenyi is known for its beautiful beaches and a more relaxed atmosphere compared to other Rwandan towns.

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING & ELLEN DE GENERESS GORILLA FUND

Early breakfast then transfers to volcanoes national park transfers to Volcanoes National Park reception, briefings and grouping, completing park formalities go to the entrance of the park early morning to trek the Golden Monkeys. It is now believed the only feasible population of these Golden Monkeys resides only in Volcanoes National Park part of the Albertine Rift Valley and endemic monkeys. They are beautiful and endangered primates which have become quite habituated to humans, making it possible to observe them closely.
After lunch visit Dian fossey Gorilla Fund, it is dedicated to the conservation, protection and study of gorillas and their habitats in Africa. Our successful, integrated approach includes close collaboration with local governments and communities as well as partner around the world. The Ellen Campus represents a huge expansion of our teaching and laboratory spaces, enabling us to not just increase but transform our programs to study gorillas and their critical forest habitat and bring educational opportunities to early career African scientists and members of the local community. Overnight at Mount Gorilla View Lodge.

DAY 8: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING & IBYIWACU GORILLA VILLAGE

Early morning breakfast at 6:30am then drive to the park headquarters, arrival to the park reception, briefing and grouping, completing park formalities then embark on a once in a lifetime experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long-lost cousin. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates. You stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience.
After lunch visit Ibyiwacu Cultural Village known as Gorilla Guardians village where you will learn more about Rwandan culture and lifestyles. Get to understand the culture of the Rwandans through their daily life and knowledge of the environment, poetry, folklores, dancing, singing, pottery and the theoretical hunt gathering skills. It’s one of the thrilling experiences and very adventurous as you try to adapt to the traditional hut homes and lifestyle. Overnight at Mount Gorilla View Lodge.

 

DAY 9: VISIT DIANA FOSSEY TOMBS AND BUHANGA ECO PARK & TRANSFER BACK KIGALI

Breakfast then transfers to the Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas and the Dian Fossey Karisoke research center. A thrilling nature walk and hike to the Tombs: Embark on a guided hike to the Dian Fossey Tombs. The hike provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings of the Virunga Mountains.
Here you will visit Dian Fossey’s and gorillas’ grave: Pay respects at the gravesite of Dian Fossey, a renowned primatologist who dedicated her life to the study and conservation of mountain gorillas.

 

After exploring the Dian Fossey Tombs and having lunch, proceed to Buhanga Eco Park. The drive provides opportunities to enjoy the scenic landscapes of Rwanda.
Arrival at Buhanga Eco Park, a sacred forest that holds cultural significance in Rwandan traditions. Guided Nature Walk: Take a guided nature walk through Buhanga Eco Park. Learn about the indigenous plant species, cultural significance, and the park’s role in traditional ceremonies. Cultural Activities: Participate in cultural activities within the park, which may include traditional ceremonies, storytelling, or demonstrations of local crafts. enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes from designated viewpoints within the park.
After you will transfer back Kigali. Overnight at Park inn by Radisson Hotel

DAY 10: SOUVRVENIR SHOPPING AND TRANSFER TO THE AIR PORT

Start your day with a leisurely breakfast at your accommodation after then Head to Kimironko markets and Caplaki craft village souvenir shops to explore a variety of locally produced goods, Popular items include woven baskets, traditional fabrics, and locally made handicrafts.
After lunch you will transfer to the Kigali international airport and depart
