SAFARI OVERVIEW

This is a short but extremely rewarding safari as it allows visitors to gain firsthand experience of the Great Rift Valley and the vast game-rich plains of the Masai Mara. The Rift Valley lakes are famous for their abundance of flamingos and other waterfowl, while Masai Mara is home to the country’s greatest concentration of wildlife. This safari is ideal for those seeking a beach stay and let’s not forget that this East African country is also home to the greatest wildlife spectacle of them all – the Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi & Transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival at JKIA airport, meet and greet with the guide and later be driven/transferred to Movenpick hotel for check-in and the remainder of the day at leisure enjoying hotel facilities.

Day 2: Drive from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

Leaving Nairobi after your breakfast at the hotel, travel west through Kenya’s fertile highlands, where rolling tea and coffee estates abound. Then suddenly to your left, the part of the tree reveals a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley, with the dormant Longonot volcano taking center stage.

Your panoramic journey will then take you past Lake Naivasha, with its Crescent Island, and onto Lake Nakuru. The lake is often colored by a shimmering flamingo pink from thousands of beautiful birds lining its shores. Once in the park, there will be a game drive en route to the lodge. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

Day 3: Game drive in Lake Nakuru and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

After an early morning breakfast leave the flamingo-fringed Lake Nakuru behind and heading due south, travel towards Narok, the gateway to the Maasai Mara and district headquarters of this part of Maasai land. You’ll travel across the “breadbasket” of Kenya, covered with acres of wheat and barley before you reach the Mara in time for lunch. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the camp as the sun sets.

Day 4: Full-day game drive – Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will start your day with game drives in search of big 5 animals plus other animals. Optional Early Morning balloon safari ride (US$450.00 per person) across the Masai Mara plains. Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game abounds here; The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black-manned males. See the Great Migration where over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelopes crossed the mighty Mara River. Experience the battle between survival and hunger. You are also likely to see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as – if you’re lucky leopard, cheetah, and rhino.

All of the Big Five are residents. You’re sure to see the African buffalo. In the evening visit Masai village at an extra cost payable direct.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Nairobi

After breakfast, you’ll depart the Maasai Mara with a game drive en route to Nairobi arriving early afternoon. You will be dropped off at the airport for your onward flight back home. END OF SERVICE!
