A visit to a reconciliation village in Bugesera, inhabited by all sides, is inspiring in its ambition. In the Wheels of the Tour du Rwanda & Congo-Nile Trail

Supposed cycle touring following the growing fame of the tour du Rwanda routes and the Congo-Nile trail. The land of a thousand hills and a pleasant warm climate tempered by the altitude of Rwanda offers some great cycling with lots of altitude and hill-climbing for the adventurous cyclist. Road cycling is on well-surfaced main roads or mountain bike routes follow the hardcore side roads and the Congo-Nile trail. The beautiful landscape varies from jungle forests in the South west, to manicured little farms, to marshlands and lakes and to the ochers of the savannah in the East. There is drama as you frequently hill- climb, straddled dramatic ridges, cross colls and cruise down long descents to interesting village and top stops. Venture into the hills of the North of the country or long the beautiful indented shoreline of Lake Kivu, bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hybrid cycling offers scope for many circuits through the savannah and lakes country of the North and South East. The options are many and the population, with a history of bicycle transport and racing, is knowledgeable, friendly and supportive of cyclists.
